Miriam's Holiday

Miriam's holidays are different because Miriam's father is Jewish and her mother is Christian. Their family celebrates both Hanukkah and Christmas. Miriam explains why and how. Happy Cat

While two sisters walk through beautiful meadows Renee, the younger girl, trips. They discover a hole. As they continue walking they see some older children chasing something in the grass. A wild rabbit whizzes by them with his foot stuck in an aluminum can. After a number of adventures the girls are able to save the rabbit. They become determined "no more garbage" should be thrown in the park. The reader learns not to touch a wild animal, not to take a wild animal from the park or try to make it a pet, and the importance of putting garbage in a can or recycling bin.
